SELMA SELMAN KATALOG

02.01.0049

The catalog accompanies Selma Selman's solo exhibition Flowers of Life, which includes recent works – sculptures, a video piece, and drawings from the years 2021 to 2024. These works address central aspects of Selman's oeuvre and reflect her own experiences as well as those of her Romani family. The first part of the book directly depicts the exhibition through installation views. In addition to a comprehensive introduction to the exhibition and Selman's work by curator Matthias Ulrich, an essay by Catherine Nichols explores Selman's collaboration with her family and traces art historical references and connections. The other part of the book focuses on Selman's previous work, particularly her unique paintings on scrap metal and her various performances. In an interview with Hans Ulrich Obrist, the artist herself speaks, providing direct insights into her work and sharing personal stories about her upbringing, education, and early start in her artistic career.

Tip:

This first publication on Selma Selman presents the young artist and her remarkable, multifaceted body of work to date.
